Description

Gorgonzola Piccante is an aged, bold blue cheese with DOP status. Aged for about a year, it develops a potent aroma in its thick rind. The cheese itself boasts ivory-colored surfaces veined with blue mold, offering a creamy, sweet flavor with a lingering tartness. Gorgonzola has a rich history dating back to the early Middle Ages and gained its distinctive marbled appearance in the eleventh century. Named after Gorgonzola, a small town near Milan, it has been a culinary staple in Italian cooking since 879.
